Product Overview
Superformance ammunition is loaded with proprietary propellants that increase the velocity ratings up to 200 feet per second compared to other popular brands. Because there is no increase in pressure, regardless of the caliber, there is no increase in felt recoil but there IS an increase in efficiency and high speed performance. From sub-zero arctic temperatures to almost unbearable desert heat, Superformance ammunition can withstand any hunting habitat.
Loaded with Hornady’s InterLock Super Shock Tip (SST) bullet, this round combines proven Hornady performance with a higher ballistic coefficient than available with most hunting bullets. The sharp, pointed polymer tip creates a faster, flatter shooting bullet. With its one-piece core and jacket strengthened in critical areas, the SST delivers much more controlled expansion and superior weight retention than other tipped bullets. Featuring Hornady’s trade mark InterLock ring system, this bullet’s core and jacket remain locked solid during expansion, creating massive wound channels.

I shot at least 8 animals with SuperFormance SST Ammo last year (150 SST in .308 and 139 SST in 7mm Rem Mag); cumulative steps after the shot – ZERO, very impressive. However, even on smaller whitetails, no pass-through unless completely broadside and no shoulder was struck. Late last season I switched to the 162 gr SST in the 7mm Mag and shot 2 large-bodied whitetail bucks (around 240-250#) and got pass-throughs on both, but neither dropped like before, with the lighter projectile. I am very satisfied with value, accuracy, and effectiveness

I used this round in the 2012 Pennsylvania deer season. I shot a deer at about 50 yards standing broadside, slight quarter away shot. The bullet left a very large entrance hole but never exited the deer. It ran about 50 yards and left an okay blood trail. I have shot several deer in the past with a 7MM Mag and they never took a step. I believe the round may shoot too fast for close range shots and expends its energy too quickly. The rounds are very accurate but as some of the other reviewers have stated they too failed to get a pass thru shot at closer ranges. I realize all guns and shooting situations are different so the best advice I can say is to try it and see how it works for you. If you get good results then stick with it.

Shot the whole box off the bench between 100 and 500 yards, best five shot groups covered the first three and then threw the last 2, could of been me or maybe barrel heat, but easily maintained half inch three shot groups
